So, after all this shenanigans, what makes my day? Oso Polar's teensy little wee wee in his (fb) profile. I think I just died a little of the inside and killed off some more of my brain cells laughing so hard. Of course I told my OBW buds, because they will find it just as funny, if not more.
Right, have I even said ANYTHING about OBW? Alright then, let's label it Wilderness Hell. But don't take the name too literally. It isn't that bad looking back on it. Doesn't suck AS bad I guess. I really have to cut Wilderness some slack! Anyway, I went on a Tour de Midwest of America last Fall semester to take a "break" from U. Believe me, I needed it.
It consisted of 181 days in the field. No showers (I got to take a total of four the entire trip, including ONE bucket bath. ((GLORIOUS!))), minimal contact from the outside world, NO CELLPHONES. I know, it sounds absolutely heinous right? Once again, I'm not giving Wilderness ANY slack whatsoever. 14 people, two groups of 7. Mine totally rocked the house.
Minnesota (Boundary Waters - Lake Superior) was for an entire month during our first excursion (canoing and portaging). For anyone who doesn't know what portaging is: Carrying a canoe, by yourself. Fun right? Exactly my thoughts.
After we were thoroughly waterlogged in Minnesota, we were all shoved in a 16 person van and shipped off to Texas. I think they lied to us though, because it was throughly not comfortable for two girls and 12 other fully grown boys. Lies, I tell you! But it was sweet, totally jamming the whole way down with the music we were definitely lacking over the past month. Texas. Big. Hot. Dry. Mmm, home sweet home! This part of the course consisted of hiking across Big Bend National Park. Fuuuun. Best tan of my LIFE! And dehydration totally does the skin nicely.
Viva a la Mexico! That's right, we jumped the border after a few weeks in Big Bend and hiked through Copper Canyon with the help of our dear Spanish-tongued natives, the Tarajumarin. Spelling? Not even going to try. NEXT!
Sun. Ocean. Fish. Reefs. Kayaking in the Sea of Cortez! Oh so amazing.
Now Oso Polar was one of the instructors we had, and he was from the tip top most north western state of the union. Brrr. Amuses me greatly, for Wilderness was anything but sexual. That's a lie. Matter of fact there was MUCH hooking up for our group.
I guess I'm reminiscing because I just received my six month letter that I wrote to myself while in Mexico. Fun stuff. Brought back some good memories. I miss my Shano! We are thinking of a rendezvous of OBW cohorts to meet at some place on the far east. Should be fun?
We had the most awesome of thunderstorms today. Amazing. I was over Biker Chick's abode with Bookworm and Disturbed Boy and while we were watching this real fucked* up movie called [Vagina Jaws]. Not really, but I'm renaming it that because that would have been a whole lot more informative. Then we killed some zombies, the usual trouble-making. Getting head shots while drinking the Dew. Good times.
I feel like I've rambled, so I'm going to sign off for now. We'll see what tomorrow brings!
